【President Fujiwara paid a courtesy call on Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan 】

On March 8, 2023, Dr. Fujiwara, President of the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People (FWEAP) and Mr. Kawaue, Secretary-General of the Foundation visited the Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (hereinafter called Sri Lanka) to greet with His Excellency, the Ambassador, Mr. E. Rodney M. Perera, who presented his credentials to the Emperor of Japan on January 19 as the newly appointed Ambassador to Japan.
Ambassador Perera has worked across all regions of the world as a diplomat. He was the Ambassador to the United States until the end of 2020, coordinating with the U.S. government and international organizations.
Sri Lanka has been participating in " The FWEAP Invitation Program for the persons who are being engaged in social and welfare works in Asian countries“ since its 6th program which took place in October 1980. Since then, the FWEAP has established a close relationship with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan through this program.
During the above mentioned visit, President Fujiwara explained about “The Special Invitation Program” scheduled to be held in September this year, whereas Ambassador Perera expressed his willingness to consider Sri Lankan participation in this program.
